ECHS FFA team places fifth at state competition

The Effingham County High School FFA Agricultural Mechanics Team recently placed fifth at the State FFA Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event.

The event was held at the State FFA/FCCLA Camp in Covington.

Team members Jesse Edwards, Skyler Jones, T. J. Smith and Dillon Youngblood participated in individual problem solving and skill development activities, a team activity, and took a written examination.

The event included subject matter associated with electricity, small engines and oxyacetylene welding and cutting.

FFA is a national organization of over 449,000 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture.  FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education program in public schools.

The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

Dr. Freddie Waltz, C. J. Satterfield and Meredith Carey are Effingham County High School FFA advisors. The Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event is sponsored by Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) as a special project of the Georgia FFA Foundation.
