An Effingham County teenager was arrested and faces four charges, including statutory rape and child molestation.
Timothy Guy Bolinger, 17, was arrested and booked into the Effingham County Jail late Tuesday afternoon for an incident that took place in late July, according to Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Deputies said Bolinger met the victim, 12, through a friend and continued to keep in contact with her through social media Internet sites. Bolinger also has been charged with sexual battery and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
His bond has been set at $37,000.
“We want parents to monitor their children’s Internet activities,” Effingham Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie said.
