Robin Heidt allowed back in county

POSTED: August 19, 2010 11:13 p.m.

The widow of a man killed along with his father in August 2008 attack is being allowed to return home to Effingham County.

Robin Heidt, whose late husband Carey Heidt and his father Phillip were shot and killed in Phillip’s home two years ago, had been charged with tampering with a witness in February.

A judge ordered her to refrain from contact with any witnesses or potential witnesses in the case and ordered her to move to Charleston, S.C.

A motion to modify her bond, set at $15,000, was denied Aug. 5 but a consent order on her pretrial release was granted earlier this month. It allows Heidt to return to Effingham County as of Aug. 6 but also stipulates that she no have contact with witnesses or potential witnesses in the case.
She also is ordered to honor any subpoena from the district attorney’s office and testify in the case.

Craig Heidt is accused of shooting and killing his father and brother and of seriously wounding his mother Linda Heidt in the August 2008 attack.
Jury selection in his trial is expected to begin late next month.
