PORT WENTWORTH—Effingham County is hoping to tap into Savannah and the Coastal Empire’s steady stream of tourists.

Thursday morning at the Georgia Visitors Center, Chamber of Commerce officials, with help from local historical organizations, showed off a new display case containing artifacts and topped with informational rack cards about what the county has to offer.

“Savannah has 6 million visitors a year, and we want to capitalize on that,” Chamber President Randy Shearouse said.
