End may be in sight for service delivery squabbles

POSTED: February 14, 2011 6:07 p.m.

The lengthy work on a service delivery strategy could be nearing an end today.

Effingham County commissioners are expected to vote on agreements for the jail, road construction and maintenance and recreation with the three municipalities at their meeting today — and Rincon City Council will take up the matters of agreements for the jail, road construction and maintenance, recreation and fire protection at its meeting tonight.

Negotiators from the county and the cities hammered out a framework for the agreements nearly three months ago. While some of the pacts are complex in their structure, the simplest of them is perhaps the agreement for jail operations.

For the complete story, see Tuesday's edition of the Effingham Herald.
