Strong numbers for BoE

POSTED: March 3, 2011 8:45 p.m.

The month of January marked the end of peak tax collections for the 2010-11 school year budget, but the financial report reviewed at the Effingham Board of Education’s March 2 meeting indicates encouraging numbers across the budget.

The BoE collected $5.57 million in property taxes during January and an additional $827,000 in February, leaving an uncollected balance of $4.421 million for the year.

BoE Financial Director Ron Wilson said that they will receive $2.5 million in payments by April 18 from bills sent Feb. 15 for some public utilities.

For the complete story, see Friday's edition of the Effingham Herald.
