Christina Hillman said she found out she was STAR Student for Effingham County High School around November last year, but she had to keep it a secret until they finished some figuring.

She was at her internship at the Board of Education office and asked if she could leave a little early to tell her STAR Teacher, Kim Larson, who moved to the Career Academy this year to teach graphic communication.

“We’ve been working together for a really long time, and she knew she was gonna get it if I got it,” Hillman said.
