Springfield Fire adopts new SOP

POSTED: April 4, 2011 8:36 p.m.

After months of work, the Springfield Fire Department has a set of standard operating procedures and also will have a new vehicle on the way.

Council members approved the SOPs, which had been a year and a half in the making, said Springfield Fire Capt. Travis Zitterour. He and Amber Nettles, the city’s accounting clerk, worked on the document and sent it to city attorney Hillary Burns for review.

“If the chief sees the need to update the standard operating procedures, he doesn’t have to come back before city council to do it,” Burns said.

For the complete story, see Tuesday's edition of the Effingham Herald.
