POSTED: April 14, 2011 6:54 p.m.

Although property tax collections declined in February and March, the Effingham County Board of Education continues to draw closer to meeting its budgeted revenue of approximately $26 million.

February tax collections were $827,557, and March brought another $798,000, leaving the year-to-date collections approximately $21.1 million with $3.6 million to be collected.

The general fund in February was $5.2 million above expenses, but this has declined since January, when revenue was $6.6 million over expenditures.
