A strong crowd turned out Saturday as the Habitat for Humanity of Effingham County held its “An American Dream for an American Hero” next to Lowe’s.

“The turnout’s better than I expected,” said Effingham Habitat executive director Jimmy Rutland. “I’m very proud of the number of people who have come out.”

Rutland also praised the work of Georgia Power and said that company’s presence would have been substantial Saturday but many of their workers had been called to storm relief duty. He also knew the community’s support of the Veterans Build recipient, Christal Barry, would be strong.

For the complete story, see Tuesday's edition of the Effingham Herald.
