ReStore asks for help after materials stolen

POSTED: September 6, 2011 12:12 p.m.

Several pallets of shingles valued at over $1,200 were reported stolen from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Aug. 22. These materials were a special donation by the Owens Corning Company in Savannah for the Habitat’s first build of 2011, scheduled to break ground in September.

“The loss of these shingles will cause a serious financial burden and possible construction delay in the building of this home,” said Rick Oglesby, ReStore manager. “It is our prayer that the thieves have a change of heart and return the shingles with no questions asked. However, if this miracle doesn’t occur, we would like to ask the community to help.

“Effingham County is a beautiful place to live and full of kind folks who are eager to lend in time of need.  Habitat has witnessed this with every home built,” Oglesby continued.

If you would like to help with a tax-deductible donation to Effingham’s Habitat for Humanity, call 826-1476, or come by the ReStore 3605 Highway 21 South in Rincon during normal business hours. The ReStore is open Tuesday-Friday. 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The ReStore is closed Sunday and Monday. ReStore also takes donations of material and offers free pickup of materials to homeowners and contractors.

Habitat for Humanity of Effingham County is a community partner that builds and renovates decent, affordable housing for those who qualify.
