School is out, but 4H is in.

When you think of 4H, you may think of monthly club meetings, agriculture, or various competitions. However, 4H offers many wholesome activities that encourage youth development.

This summer, through the support of some local folks, 4H’ers will be involved in several fun-filled activities.  Activities such as “Busy Bee,” where kids will take a field trip to The Vintage Bee Company site to see how honey is taken from the honeycomb, and witness honeybees at work.

Madrac Farms will host a day “down on the farm,” where kids will learn about seeds, soil and seasonal crops.  A “Cool Cookin’ School” will offer a day of creative kitchen fun, as kids learn how to make healthy choices. There also will be “tea time,” and not speaking of golf here, but rather British tea time when 4H’ers will learn proper etiquette and fine dining.

Contact the Effingham Extension at 754-840 for more information on how you can get involved as a sponsor or participant.
