The Effingham County Exchange Club is sponsoring a Chili Cook-Off on Oct. 13 in conjunction with the Springfield Fall Festival in downtown Springfield.

Representatives from local fire departments will judge the entries. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in different categories. Chili will be sold from noon until it is sold out.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Effingham County Exchange Club programs such as the Quick Think-A-Thon for the prevention of child abuse and the Youth of the Year Award.

For more information about entering the cook-off, call evenings or weekends: Yvette Carr at 657-5423 or Phil Maloney at 441-8351.
