Mossy Oak ready for 34th bluegrass festival

POSTED: October 15, 2012 9:18 p.m.

It’s that time of year again for the family and folks at Mossy Oak Music Park in Guyton to host their 34th bluegrass and gospel music festival. Activities begin with a covered dish supper Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. and conclude with a worship service and gospel music Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.

In between Wednesday night and Sunday morning, however, will appear some of the top touring bluegrass bands in the nation. Among those performing this year are such noted groups as Little Roy Lewis and Lizzy Long, Goldwing Express, Ralph Stanley II, Dailey & Vincent, The Suggins Brothers, Constant Change Band, The Bluegrass Brothers, and the host, Lonesome Whistle Band, as well as others.

The Mossy Oak venue at Guyton has been named one of the most beautiful, user-friendly facilities in the Southeast. Its 34 acres have more than 525 camping sites with hookups, full kitchen facilities, a playground for the youngsters, and numerous other amenities, including a variety of vendors and a large covered pavilion that seats 770. Shows begin at noon Thursday, Friday and Saturday and end at 10 p.m. The alcohol-free venue has something for everyone, including an on-site flea market operating daily.

For camping reservations and additional information,  call 772-5142 or 772-3467. Camp sites are $15 and $20 per night. Daily show tickets are $20 for Thursday and Friday and $25 for Saturday; 12-15 year olds half price, under 12 free, and a full five-day festival ticket is $45. You can visit the Music Park and reserve a camp site and purchase tickets at www.mossyoakmusicpark.com.
