Elizabeth Z. Hursey from Effingham County has successfully completed the requirements of the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government and is now recognized as a “Certified Clerk of Superior Court” in the state of Georgia.

The Carl Vinson Institute of Government, in conjunction with the Institute of Continuing Education and the Superior Court Clerks’ Training Council, offers the certificate program for the elected Superior Court Clerks in Georgia. All clerks presently in office are eligible to enroll in the program.

To become a certified clerk of Superior Court, it is necessary for participating clerks to complete all requirements of the program including:
• 10 required six hour courses
• two elective six hour courses, and
• a project thesis

Once a clerk has completed the program, a certificate is awarded.  To keep the certificate current, a certified clerk is required to complete six hours of continuing education annually.
