Chamber to host Eggs and Issues breakfast Dec. 6

POSTED: November 29, 2012 6:35 p.m.

The Effingham Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Eggs and Issues Breakfast Dec. 6 at 7:30 a.m at the Effingham College and Career Academy.

The annual event is an opportunity to visit with state legislators and hear their responses to current issues and questions concerning Effingham County. State Sen. Jack Hill, state Reps. Jon Burns and Ann Purcell, and Representative-elect Bill Hitchens will address the audience and answer questions following a breakfast prepared by the ECCA culinary class.

There will be a panel discussion with Hill, Burns, Hitchens and Purcell.  The Chamber’s Governmental Affairs committee prepared a list of issues for the elected officials involving funding for transportation, education, health care, support for economic development and how the 2013 session of the Georgia General Assembly could affect our community.

“We expect a record turnout for this event,” Chamber President Talbert Edenfield said. “Last year we had over 150 attendees at the Eggs and Issues Breakfast. We expect a record turnout again on Dec. 6.”

Attendees are invited to submit their written questions to the program’s moderator, who will direct them to the panel of elected officials.

The Chamber asks that reservations be made as soon as possible so the meal count can be made. Contact the chamber by telephone or by email. Call 754-3301 or email beckyshea@effinghamcounty.com. Breakfast cost is $12 each for Chamber members and $15 for non-members.
