Young inventors show off their work

South Effingham Elementary fourth-grader Katie Howard took first place in the household category for “First Impressions,” an air freshener that releases a pleasant scent when the doorbell is pressed.

Young inventors displayed their big ideas at the Effingham County School District’s annual Invention Convention.

The competition is open to all K-5 students, and 66 participated this year in several categories.

The grand champion was Ebenezer Elementary third-grader Tyler Garman for his “Spider Bitter” project.
