UDC to mark Confederate Memorial Day on Sunday

The Effingham County Hussars Chapter No. 2285, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will host Effingham’s annual Confederate Memorial Day program Sunday at 4 p.m. The remembrance will be held at the Confederate Monument at the graves of 26 unknown Confederate soldiers in the Guyton Cemetery.


Benny Ferguson will speak on the music of the Confederacy. Members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will participate in the posting of the colors and will fire a volley.


In case of rain, the event will be held at the Guyton Christian Church. The public is invited to attend.
