Georgia Power’s Plant McIntosh made a $1,000 contribution to help kick off Treutlen House’s long-term fundraising effort, Treutlen 12.

Treutlen House at New Ebenezer is a 12-bed facility for boys in the foster care system. The Treutlen 12 campaign is asking people in the community to provide ongoing donations to Treutlen House, with a weekly/monthly ($1/$12) commitment as long as donors are able.

Donations will provide food, clothing and uniforms, and help the boys participate in school activities and special outings. In fact, a special fund to help residents pay for sports activities is established in memory of Logan Shelton, an Effingham County High School baseball player who died in a car accident in 2011.

The motto of the Treutlen 12 campaign is, “12 weeks, 12 dollars, 12 lives changed forever.”

“The simple cost of a cup of coffee or soft drink once a week can make a difference in a child's life,” said Treutlen House Director Bobbie Tootle.

Donations can be mailed to Treutlen House, 131 Old Augusta Road Central, Rincon, GA 31326 or be made through the Web site www.treutlenhouse.org by using PayPal.

For more information about the Treutlen House, contact Tootle at 754-9797.
