Chick-fil-A plans get thumbs-up from Rincon

POSTED: August 29, 2013 7:04 p.m.

Where Chick-fil-A is going in Rincon isn’t the question.

Rincon City Council overwhelmingly and gladly approved Monday night the preliminary site plans for a Chick-fil-A to be built along Highway 21, adjacent to the Verizon Wireless location.

“I know our citizens are anxious about it,” said Rincon Mayor Ken Lee, “and they have been asking about it.”

The preliminary plans call for a 5,000 square foot store, with 132 seats on the inside and 35 seats outside. Entry to the store, which will have a double drive-through, will be off Brentwood Drive.

Todd Rogers of Greyden Engineering in Roswell said he hoped to have a development schedule to present to council members next month. Greyden is performing the engineering on the site for Chick-fil-A.

“We are glad to see you, sir,” Lee said to Rogers.

There is no projected opening date, according to Chick-fil-A representatives. It will be opened by a franchise owner/operator. The company also strives to grow in areas where it does not have a presence.

The plans submitted to the city’s planning and zoning board did not include sidewalks but those will be included in the final design.
