HeritageBank of the South announces promotions

Heritage Financial Group, Inc., the holding company for HeritageBank of the South, announces the promotions of Kris Brinker, Elizabeth Ely and August Shearouse in the bank’s East Georgia market.


Brinker, who currently serves as market president in Effingham, was promoted to vice president. A veteran banker, Brinker has been in the banking industry for 14 years and joined HeritageBank of the South in 2011. He is an active member of his community, serving as vice president of economic development for the Greater Tattnall Chamber of Commerce, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Glennville Rotary Club, and ambassador of the former Liberty County Chamber of Commerce.


Ely was recently promoted to banking officer. Ely joined the HeritageBank of the South team in 2011 and serves as branch manager of the Rincon office. Previously with Citizens Bank of Effingham before it was purchased by HeritageBank of the South, she has seven years of banking experience. An active member of Springfield United Methodist Church, Ely has a 5-year-old son, Lucas, and three nieces and nephews.


Shearouse, branch manager in Springfield, was recently promoted to assistant vice president. Shearouse joined HeritageBank of the South when Citizens Bank of Effingham was purchased in 2011. A graduate of Georgia Southern University, she is active in civic organizations including Effingham Women in Business and Leadership Effingham. Shearouse and her husband, Brandon, have two sons, Justin and Jackson.
