Barrow on economic development tour

POSTED: November 4, 2013 8:17 p.m.

U.S. Rep. John Barrow (D-Augusta) has kicked off an economic development tour of the 12th District.  Barrow will visit with Chamber of Commerce and economic development authorities in counties throughout the district to discuss projects that will boost the local economies and create jobs.

Barrow started his tour with economic development authorities in Columbia, Burke and Richmond counties. On Wednesday, he will visit with the joint development authority in Emanuel County. On Thursday, prior to making an economic development announcement in Statesboro, Barrow will visit with the Bulloch County EDA. On Friday, Barrow will meet with the Screven County EDA.

Throughout the tour, Barrow and EDA officials will meet and tour local projects that are considered critical to the economies throughout the region.

“The 12th District is ripe for economic growth,” Barrow said. “We’ve got some of the most skilled workers in the country and communities that are ready and willing to accept new businesses. It’s important for us to keep a conversation going about how we can work on every level of government to ensure that our communities have the resources they need to bring in business.”
