The community enjoyed a “celebration of Effingham's heritage and faith” Sunday at the New Ebenezer Retreat and Conference Center.

The third annual Historic Effingham Christmas at Ebenezer hearkened back to the holidays as they were celebrated when the Salzburgers founded Ebenezer on the banks of the Savannah River in the 1730s.

Following the lighting of the Christmas tree, First Baptist Church of Rincon music minister Rev. Greg Hartzog led the crowd in Christmas carols.

The event also included a Christmas tour of the old Salzburger home and a cantata service with the combined choirs of Jerusalem Lutheran and Zion Lutheran churches.
