Jimmy Rutland, executive director of the Effingham County chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and George Groce, Effingham Habitat director of development, spoke to the Rotary Club of Effingham about the organization’s plans for 2014.

Habitat of Effingham has a goal to dedicate three houses in 2014. That includes homes for Cristal Boyles, an Army veteran who served in Operation Desert Storm, and Nancy Clifton, a 72-year-old who cares for the five grandchildren living with her.

Habitat for Humanity of Effingham County last dedicated a house on Sept. 9, 2012, as local contributions to the non-profit, Christian ministry declined following the economic downturn. However, the Effingham chapter has been busy raising money and  renovating several houses through its critical home repair program.
