Local students earn fall semester honors at UGA

Two Effingham County students were named to the University of Georgia presidential scholar list for fall semester 2013.

To be a presidential scholar, students must have a 4.0 grade-point average and take at least 14 hours of classes. They are:


Mallory Ann Burke of Springfield, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences
David Randall Stapleton Jr. of Guyton, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences


The following students were named to the dean’s list for the semester. To earn the distinction, they must have a 3.5 GPA and carry 14 hours of classes.

Miriam Durden of Guyton, a professional in the College of Pharmacy
Tiffany Johnson of Clyo, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences
John Rodriguez, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences
Christina Nicole Lewis of Bloomingdale, a junior in Arts and Sciences
Kyle Lankhorst of Guyton, a sophomore in Public and International Affairs
Michelle Larson of Guyton, a sophomore in Public and International Affairs
Kristopher Rahn of Springfield, a sophomore in Arts and Sciences
Michael Lastinger of Springfield, a sophomore in Engineering
Janese Riley of Clyo, a freshman in Arts and Sciences
Nathaniel Lee of Guyton, a freshman in the College of Engineering
Hannah Boyd of Newnan, a freshman in Arts and Sciences
Carl Mesmer of Rincon, a freshman in Arts and Sciences
Austin Kessler of Rincon, a freshman in Engineering
Ryan Ratchford of Springfield, a freshman in Arts and Sciences
