Lee ready to start next term as mayor

POSTED: January 9, 2014 9:50 p.m.

Ken Lee took his oath as the mayor of Rincon for the third time Monday night. Starting next month, he’ll have more time to devote to his elected duty.

Lee, re-elected in November without opposition to a third term, will retire as manager of the Rincon Kroger next month.

“It will give me a lot more time to take care of the city’s business and be a lot more actively involved,” he said. “The last eight years have been challenging. There is so much I want to do and have not been able to do because of my time restraints. But I’ve gotten great satisfaction of what we’ve been able to accomplish in the city.”

Lee was sworn into office and then administered the oaths to returning council members Scott Morgan and Levi Scott Jr. and newcomer Christina Shores Ricker.

“I look forward to working with this group of people,” Lee said. “We are very privileged to have elected officials who care as deeply as these people do. We look forward to having Christie with us.”

Scott thanked the citizens for having confidence in him and also praised his fellow council members.

“We have accomplished more in eight years than I can remember any group accomplished. It’s because of their love of the city.”

Lee added he looks forward to the next term.

“I’m really excited about what I think we are going to be able to accomplish,” he said. “I thank the citizens for trusting me to do this job another four years. I look forward to being able to do some things that will make us proud of our city.”
