ECHS Air Force JROTC celebrates the year

ECHS Air Force JROTC Accomplishments/Highlights 2006-2007:

  • Color Guards performed more than 25 events over the school year, including the Republican district conference, the opening of the March of Dimes Walk in Savannah and the opening of the new pharmacy in Guyton
  • Saber team performed six times, including homecoming for two middle schools and ECHS, Miss ECHS Scholarship Pageant and graduation
  • Marched in five parades, including Springfield, Guyton and Savannah
  • Planned and managed two blood drives, collecting over 200 pints of blood
  • Conducted a flag changing ceremony at the Effingham County Veteran’s Park
  • Had annual Dining Out (formal dinner with guest speaker), Military Ball and Awards and Decoration Ceremony
  • Conducted five field trips, including tour of a Robins Air Force Base, the museum in Warner Robbins and an airplane ride from Robbins
  • Sent 14 cadets to Cadet Officer Leadership School for a week at Mercer University. One cadet earned outstanding flight leader award
  • Sending 12 cadets to a one day leadership school at Hunter Army Airfield in May
  • Over 1,500 hours of community service time, including the Guyton Tour of Homes, Relay for Life and Walk for Parkinson’s Disease
  • Corps commanders this year: first semester, Cadet Colonel Samantha Mull; second semester, Cadet Colonel Stephanie McCarthy. McCarthy was recipient of Excaliber (saber), symbolic of the best cadet of the year. Cadet Amie Perkins was promoted to Cadet Colonel and is the new Corps Commander for the first semester next year.
