STC to offer Gulfstream information sessions

POSTED: May 5, 2007 5:02 a.m.

SAVANNAH – Savannah Technical College will begin offering monthly information sessions for prospective students interested in pursuing careers with Gulfstream. Information sessions will be held on the first Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Industrial Technology Center on the college’s Savannah Campus, 5717 White Bluff Road in accordance with the following schedule: May 2, June 6, July 11 (due to July 4 holiday), Aug. 1, Sept. 5, Oct. 3, Nov. 7 and Dec. 5.

When the college began its partnership with Gulfstream in spring of last year, it held information sessions weekly then scaled back to twice monthly and now to monthly because of the growing backlog of students interested in pursing the course of study.

“The response has been tremendous,” said Ken Boyd, vice president of economic development. “We now have upwards of 600 people in our database either having applied, been tested or waiting for the next session of classes to begin. We wanted to lessen the time students are being waitlisted as much as possible so they don’t become discouraged.”

Gulfstream guarantees an interview to students who successfully complete certificate programs in warehousing and aircraft structural assembly.
