National Night Out draws a crowd in spite of the heat

National Night Out was held Tuesday at Ulmer Park in Springfield.

Hot dogs and drinks were served to those in attendance.

Springfield Police Chief Paul Wynn estimated there were 1,000 people at the event.

Various organizations from the county were on hand giving local residents information including: Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Victim Witness Assistance Program, Effingham County Department of Family and Children Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, the Girl Scouts, Mars Theatre, Army National Guard, firefighters from Rincon, Guyton, Springfield and the county, police officers from the municipalities, Georgia State Patrol and other organizations.
