50 years of Gulfstream to take the stage at Chamber breakfast

POSTED: September 26, 2008 5:01 a.m.

Robert Baugniet, director of corporate communications will be the keynote speaker at the Effingham Chamber of Commerce’s Sept. 10 membership breakfast and will give an overview of Gulfstream’s 50 years of aviation excellence.
Baugniet will also discuss the company’s impact on the regional economy and its plans for the future.

Gulfstream has been a major employer in Coastal Georgia for over 40 years and continues on a record-paced growth track. In March 2006, the aerospace leader announced its seven-year, $400 million long-range expansion plan for its Savannah headquarters and business-jet manufacturing and maintenance facility. The plan includes a 624,588 square foot service center on a 76.6 acre track at the southwest quadrant of Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.

A second phase of construction includes a second hangar building, a second engine run-up area, additional repair shops and parking spaces to be completed by 2009.

Today, Gulfstream Aerospace employs over 3,000 people in the Savannah and Coastal Georgia area. According to company officials, the current economy has not affected sales or company growth plans.

The Effingham County Chamber membership breakfast is set for Sept. 10 at 7:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Rincon (Memorial Chapel on Richland St.).

Reservations for the Chamber breakfast are $12 each and $72 for a table of six. Call the Effingham Chamber at 754-3301 or email kenstoner@effinghamcounty.com. RSVP deadline is Sept 8.
