Students at Sand Hill Elementary celebrated their love of books during their week long celebration of Children’s Book Week.

Throughout the week the media center sponsored many activities that included daily trivia questions, favorite book contests, books are stars, family reading night, personalized bookmarks, special readers and a book swap.

Special readers from South Effingham High School football team visited with many classes, read their favorite stories and showed the importance of reading to the students.

Classes made special treats such as cookies and pancakes to go along with books such as “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie” and “If You Give a Pig a Pancake.” Students were able to trade old books for new books in the school book swap.

Families were also invited to a Family Reading Night where families had the opportunity to travel to different grade levels to listen to books being read and participate in book related activities. “Most important Children’s Book” created opportunities for teachers, staff members and parents to model the importance of reading to children, and to create special book memories that will last a lifetime.
