Hodges to be honored at July 4 parade

Ernest Eugene Hodges is this year's honoree for the annual Rincon 4th of July parade.

U.S. Navy veteran Ernest Eugene Hodges will be the honoree for the city of Rincon’s annual July 4 parade.

Hodges served in the Navy from 1951-55 and later served for 12 years on the Rincon City Council. After moving to Rincon in August 1960, he helped start the Rincon Athletic Association. In 1963, Hodges was one of 15 people to sign a 10-year lease on what would become Macomber Park to start the Rincon Athletic Association.

The 74-year-old Hodges and his wife Martha have been married for 52 years and have four children.

Hodges served on Rincon City Council from 1991-2003.

The parade will be held July 4, starting at 10 a.m.
