POSTED: June 18, 2009 4:08 p.m.

Effingham Community Night presented by St. Joseph’s/Candler on June 26 headlines the events beginning June 25 at Historic Grayson Stadium.
Residents of Effingham County are encouraged to come out to the ballpark next Friday night for the Sand Gnats’ game. Any resident may pick up a ticket free of charge ahead of time at St. Joseph’s/Candler Medical Group-Rincon or at Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, courtesy of St. Joseph’s/Candler.

“St. Joseph’s/Candler has been a great community partner over the years,” said Sand Gnats general manager Brad Dodson, “and we at the Sand Gnats are proud to help them continue their longstanding community involvement through events such as the community nights out at the ballpark.”

The Sand Gnats are an affiliate of the New York Mets, who selected Effingham County High School left-hander Zach Dotson in the 13th round of the first year player draft earlier this month.

Effingham Community Night will be a chance for many fans from Effingham to come out and enjoy the festivities at Grayson. In addition to the usual lineup of activities, a fireworks show will follow this home contest. First pitch will be at 6:30 p.m. as the Sand Gnats take on the Charleston RiverDogs in the first homestand after the All-Star break.

Fans may also bring school supplies to Friday night’s game to receive a free general admission ticket to the game.  All charitable donations will benefit Danny’s Brown Box.

For tickets and information, visit www.sandgnats.com or call (912) 351-9150.
