Rincon Lions Club steps up for soldiers

Thanks to the Rincon Lions Club, local soldiers will be able to call home to their families. The Rincon Lions Club donated $1,000 to the Phone Cards for Soldiers campaign. The Veterans Park of Effingham board of directors is raising funds to purchase telephone cards for members of the local National Guard unit, Alpha Battery, now deployed in Afghanistan. With this donation, each of the 100 members deployed will receive at least one $10 phone card. Donations can be mailed to: Veterans Park, P.O. Box 1078, Springfield, GA 31329. For information, call Ruth Lee at 754-6730.
