SAVANNAH – Early Start Child Care Resource and Referral Agency of Southeast Georgia will hold its first Spring Fest on Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., celebrating the Week of the Young Child. The event will be held in the campus courtyard of Savannah Technical College, 5717 White Bluff Rd.

The event will feature face painting, a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog, storytellers, a princess with candy to share and other fun activities for children.

“We work hard to improve the lives of young children and to support their caregivers, so this event is a natural for us,” said Sherry Costa, director of Early Start.

Early Start CCR&R is operated by the Economic Development Division of Savannah Technical College. It serves a combined 4,450 square miles and a population of 548,976 with offices at the Crossroads Technology Campus of Savannah Technical College and in Brunswick at 3400 Norwich St.

Early Start offers a referral service for families needing to identify a child care provider in their area and a lending library. It also works with child care providers by providing training opportunities and technical support, providing mini-grants for start-up operations and improvement funds, and provides assistance to address specific needs for inclusion, for meeting licensure and accreditation requirements and in addressing individual concerns or needs they face in providing quality care for children.
