Rincon Police Department Sgt. Phillip Scholl gave a talk Thursday to some of Rincon Elementary School’s students on Halloween safety. “If you go with an adult, you need to make sure you stay with them,” he told the kids.

Other safety tips included not running out into the road; carry a flashlight so others can see you; know how to call 911 if you get lost; know your home phone number or write it down; don’t take candy from someone in a car; don’t get into a car with strangers; don’t eat candy that’s already been opened; and let your parents look at your goodies first.

Chief Mike Bohannon also said that Rincon Police Department would have extra patrols in the subdivisions between 6-10 p.m. on Halloween night. He also recommended that little trick or treaters have reflective tape on their costumes.
