Edwards wins FFA area event

Jesse Edwards is the Area IV winner of the FFA/EMC Electrical Wiring Career Development Event held recently in Wrightsville. With Edwards is Dustin Durden, member services representative for Excelsior Electric Membership Corporation, and Harold Milligan, area agricultural mechanics teacher and CDE coordinator.

Effingham County High School FFA member Jesse Edwards recently won the Area IV FFA Agricultural Electrification Career Development Event.The event was held at Johnson County High School in Wrightsville on Dec. 1.  

Edwards will participate in state competition Jan. 9, 2010 at the State FFA/FCCLA Camp in Covington. Participants in the FFA Agricultural Electrification Career Development Event demonstrate the proper use of electrical tools, present a speech/demonstration on an electrical energy-related topic, answer problem solving questions pertaining to electrical wiring and rural electrification and complete an assigned wiring problem based on The National Electrical Code.       

FFA is a national organization of over 449,000 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education program in public schools.

The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
