Feb. 13 was National FBLA Community Service Day and eight members of South Effingham High School FBLA along with their adviser Martha Ross and Ricky Truluck, a parent volunteer, spent the day volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House.

Ronald McDonald House is a facility available to parents and family members who have children hospitalized at Backus Children’s Hospital or Memorial Hospital in Savannah.

The FBLA members purchased the ingredients and prepared a chili lunch for 25 individuals who were staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Members chopped onions, browned ground beef, opened cans of tomatoes, beans, chili magic, tossed salads, and made brownies to put a tasty lunch together.

Members who were not involved in the cooking process provided light housekeeping duties for the facility.

Members who participated were Emilia Truluck, Kandice Nelson, Meredith Lamb, Krissy Creameans, Danielle Hightower, Gabrielle Sapp, Philip Ramsby and Ashley Sapp.
