The members of Rincon Baptist Temple have been ministering in several different languages as they gather each month to fold, cut and staple scripture booklets that get sent out to countries around the globe.

Working with missionary Paul Deen of Direct Line Ministry, the group started working to get scriptures out in this way back in 2004 when they put together and sent out 40,000 copies. The number doubled to 80,000 in 2006, then to 105,000 in 2008 and finally, an almost unbelievable 148,000 last year.

The mission group has the scriptures printed up and delivered to the church where church members gather the pages, inserting them into covers before stapling and then trimming them for uniformity, before sending them on their way. The church does this on a monthly basis and has worked with scriptures printed in Russian, Hungarian, Swahili, Portuguese, English and Spanish. Because of the recent earthquake in Haiti, they are preparing to put together booklets printed in Creole. Scripture ministry leader Truman Gordy said the effort should start within a couple of weeks.

Gordy said that groups gather on Saturdays and on Sunday nights following the church service to work on the projects and have as many as 65 people working on Sunday nights. He said this is a separate ministry of the church, and funds come directly from special offerings from the members.
