GSU seminar to cover ADA responsibilities for managers

POSTED: March 13, 2010 2:27 p.m.

Georgia Southern University invites business leaders to attend a 90-minute seminar and learn how the Americans with Disabilities Act affects them.

Taught by attorney Wade Herring, LAW 118: ADA Accommodations and Your Firm will run from 6-7:30 p.m. on April 27 at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah.

To be ADA-compliant, business managers and human resource leaders need to know how to accommodate employees who have disabilities. In amending the ADA, Congress changed employers responsibility to these employees and expanded the definition of disabilities covered under the ADA.

The University’s Legal Awareness in the Workplace (LAW) seminar series runs quarterly in Savannah and quarterly in Brunswick.
Individuals who are certified as a Professional in Human Resources or Senior Professional in Human Resources earn 1.5 credit hours for attending any seminar in the series.

Registration for the $59 seminar closes April 23 at 5 p.m. To register or for more information, visit http://ceps.georgiasouthern.edu/conted or call the Continuing Education Center at (912) 478-5551.
