Pauline Morgan wanted to do her part to give back to the Effingham County community, and her calling: those who are missing.

She reposts information on missing children and adults on her Facebook page all the time, and collected donations for the food and beverages given to the volunteer crews who searched for Bryce Tartar, a local college student who went missing last year.

Now, her goal is to raise enough money for the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office’s local Project Lifesaver to provide monitors to anyone in the county who may need one. Project Lifesaver is a tracking system in which someone with a mental disability that yields a proclivity to leave or walk off from home, who wanders unattended and disoriented can be found within minutes of their reported disappearance. Diseases associated with this behavior include Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism and similar special needs. The purpose is to provide rapid response and reduce potential injuries for adults and children who wander from their caregivers.
