The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a felon who absconded from a treatment facility in Augusta.

Deputies are searching for Christopher Michael Day, 36, of Bloomingdale. Day has violated his probation and has been ordered by a superior court judge to be taken into custody.

Day was participating in the drug court program and was being held at a treatment facility at the time of his escape. He has an extensive criminal history and has been arrested more than a dozen times. He is known to frequent the Effingham County and Savannah area and may be with his wife, Lacie Day.

Christopher Day may be driving a white 2005 Ford F150, tag BC32U3. The ECSO reports that Day's wife borrowed the truck from someone she knows, but Day is believed to have left in it this morning
