A wanted felon from Bloomingdale who walked away from a treatment facility in Augusta is back behind bars.

Christopher Michael Day, 36, was taken into custody by Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday morning at a home in Bloomingdale.

“We received information that he was at a residence on East Deerfield Road. There he was, sitting on the porch,” said Effingham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

Day was participating in the drug court program and was being held at the treatment facility. He violated his probation with his escape, and a superior court judge ordered he be taken into custody.

Day has an extensive criminal history and has been arrested more than a dozen times, Ehsanipoor said. He is being held in the Effingham County Jail.
