Man dies in motorcycle wreck

POSTED: January 28, 2013 8:04 p.m.

A Rincon man died Sunday night in a motorcycle crash on Highway 21.

Jimmy Garris, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Effingham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

According to the ECSO, Garris was traveling northbound on Highway 21 around 6:30 p.m. when he crashed into an embankment south of Goshen Road.

No other injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved, Ehsanipoor said.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the wreck Ehsanipoor said, and investigators have no reports of Garris speeding prior to losing control of the motorcycle.

“We don’t know why, but somehow he lost control of the motorcycle and left the roadway,” Ehsanipoor said.

The crash is still being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
