ECSO seeks help identifying two sets of cremains

POSTED: February 11, 2013 9:52 p.m.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying human cremains.

Deputies were called to 167 Community Road after a resident discovered two boxes of cremains. The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has been attempting to identify and locate the family members of the deceased. It is believed that one box contains cremains of an adult and the other is either a child or small adult.

Investigators have been working with Effingham County Coroner David Exley, local funeral homes, and have also been looking through property records. This specific residence is a rental property. One box has a date which is partially labeled sometime in October of the 2000s.

Anyone with information on who these cremains are or their loved ones are is asked to contact the Effingham County Sheriff's Office at 754-3449.
