ECSO arrests suspect who may have tried to lure teen into truck

Effingham County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man who reportedly attempted to lure a teenager into his truck Sunday.

Deputies arrested Laird Miller, 63, Monday night and charged him with solicitation of sodomy and enticing a child.

According to the victim, he was riding his bicycle near a pond in the area of Ralph Rahn Road and McCall Road when a man driving a white Toyota Tundra truck approached him and asked if he would like to get in. The victim also told deputies the man offered him money if he would go to his house and perform sexual acts.

The victim, who is in his early teens, said no and the man drove away. The same victim claims this is the second time this has occurred with the same person. This report is the first report the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office has received.
