A Rincon man was arrested on child pornography charges Tuesday after agents from the U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided his home on Madison Oaks Drive.
Peter Jarvis Jr., 43, is charged with receiving child pornography, said U.S. First District Attorney Jim Durham. The charge is a felony.
Durham said he could not provide details on what the agents took from Jarvis’ home.
Jarvis made his first appearance in U.S. District Court on Wednesday. He requested a public defender.
A hearing to decide if Jarvis will receive bond is set for Feb. 11, and the case could go to the grand jury as soon as March 5.
Jarvis remains in jail, Durham said.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office said it assisted on the federal search warrant at Jarvis’ house, but could not comment further because it is a federal matter.
