Thanks to community for its support in memorial service

POSTED: December 2, 2011 9:31 a.m.

Dear Editor,

Thanks very much to Effingham County for your support and attendance of the Annual Community American Cancer Society Memorial/Honor Service held on Nov. 13, 2011. It was a service of remembrance for four citizens from our area each remembered with a plaque.

Thanks to all who helped make the service successful.  We appreciate the participation of Rev. Darryl Brown of Guyton United Methodist Church; Rev. Don Clark of Clyo United Methodist Chruch; Jessica Seagle, our Effingham Community Manager for the American Cancer Society and Sandra White, local ACS volunteer. We are grateful to the Effingham County Board of Education and Superintendent Randy Shearouse for the use of the Board of Education Auditorium and Carolyn Conaway for preparing the area for our use.  Special thanks to Joann’s Florist of Springfield for donating roses in paper for each of the families and the lovely fall decorations for our stage area. We thank this paper for your coverage of the event in this publication.

Thanks to all in our community for your support of the American Cancer Society.  Hopefully one day with more research, education, early detection and treatment, these services will no longer be necessary.  Please support our yearly fundraiser Relay for Life next spring.
