Hospital enters into new partnership with Statesboro-based radiology group

POSTED: June 16, 2011 6:17 p.m.

Effingham Hospital announced this week that it has developed an association with a new radiology group to further ensure and enhance its radiology services.

The alliance with East Georgia Radiology, LLC will officially begin July 1, and at that time, they will provide radiology services for Effingham Hospital, including radiology reading services at the Open-MRI Center and Outpatient/Women’s Imaging Center, both located in Rincon. The radiology group based in Statesboro consists of Dr. George Piros, Dr. Khoa Nguyen, Dr. Janine Dodds and Dr. Colin Dodds, all board certified in radiology.

“We are delighted to partner with East Georgia Radiology, LLC and the professional and well-respected doctors that comprise the group,” said Effingham Hospital and Care Center CEO Norma Jean Morgan. “We are extremely impressed with their broad expertise and their ability to work with us to meet the needs of our patients. Our belief is that it is always our duty to provide the most accurate, timely and safe medical imaging services and this collaboration only strengthens that tradition.”

Currently, in addition to x-ray film services, Effingham Hospital also offers several advanced diagnostic radiology services including: Bone Densitometry (DEXA), Computed Tomography (CT), Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Open-MRI, Radiography and Ultrasound.
Radiologists play an integral role in patient care by assisting in early diagnosis, allowing doctors to begin treatment for the medical issue earlier. Research has shown early diagnosis and treatment lead to better health outcomes.
