Local Corps office to host course for contractors

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, will host a one-day “Construction Quality Management for Contractors” course on Aug. 17.

Consisting of eight video modules, the course will cover a range of topics to aid companies doing construction work for the Corps of Engineers. The following topics will be covered: (1) Introduction to quality management; (2) Contractor’s Review; (3) Quality Management Planning; (4) Preconstruction Conference and Coordination Meeting; (5) Submittals; (6) Quality Management during Construction; (7) Making the System Work; and (8) the Resident Management System.

The course begins at 8 a.m., in the General Services Administration (GSA) Building B, Room 301 located at 124 Barnard St., Savannah. The GSA Building B is located across the street from the Juliette Gordon Low Federal Building, 100 W. Oglethorpe Ave., Savannah.

The course is free. In order to register, call Felipe Vigo at (912) 652-5101, or e-mail felipe.l.vigo@usace.army.mil. Seating is limited and will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Savannah district purchases a wide variety of services, supplies, construction and engineering services to accomplish its mission. Contract examples include construction of projects such as barracks, dining facilities, schools, hospitals, industrial facilities, dams, dredging, and a variety of other projects.
